The HEAT Squad is a service of NeighborWorks of Western Vermont. They provide low-cost energy audits for homes and businesses. Energy audits provide all the information you need to improve the efficiency of your home or building. They provide audits in Rutland, Addison, Bennington, Windham, and Windsor counties and to the neighboring communities.

One of the core activities of SEON is the “Promotion of Sustainable Energy to our Members and the Community.”  SEON works closely with town energy committees, regional commissions and advocacy groups and the general public to educate all on the issues of sustainable energy and the financing of projects.  Presentations have included:

  • Alex Wilson spoke on the importance of resiliency and the presence of Resilient Design Institute
  • Members of the Vermont Delegation spoke on their recent trip to Germany to explore that country’s transition to a fossil free economy

  • Members of a European Delegation spoke on the various energy cooperatives that have flourished in the region including solar, wind, and hydro.
  • Peter Temple of Keene State and different manufacturers spoke on the efficiencies of cold climate air source heat pumps
  • Adam Sherman of the Biomass Energy Resource Center and Paul Fredrick, Wood Utilization Forester spoke on Biomass Thermal Energy Opportunities in Windham County.

Future programs will include the various approaches to promote community solar, and  the various mechanical systems for energy efficiency.  All presentations have been taped by Brattleboro TV and are available on their online service.
